Garys Fallow Buck

Gary took this very nice Fallow buck with me a couple weeks ago. After stalking around a few ridges and getting on to him Gary made a fine shot and dropped him. After getting some pictures and admiring him for a while I decided to bring the side by side around and down a ridge somewhere closer to pick him up. I did get about a 100 yards from him but as it turn out at a cost, there was no way we were getting back up and proceeded to get very stuck in the mud!! This is when you think - why the heck didn't I just pack him out!!! After surveying our options I decided I would try taking a very steep ridge down hill and out otherwise the Canam could be stuck there for a couple months.. Once we got out of the mud I made a very slow decent and Gary opted to walk, fortunately the route was just doable and we we able to cross the creek at the bottom, feww I think I will just pack the next deer out!
