Alaskan adventure!

Adrians ram

This 9 year old ram was one of 3 legal rams we saw and happily was undamaged by a nasty series of somersaults off a rock face onto a rock slide. The damage had already been done.

Matt

This is Matt. An unusual CV. Hunting and Climbing guide. Lost his job as a Ski instructor as you can see he keeps forgetting them. Bouncer at Hells Angel Bar and Strip club in Anchorage. Judo and Ju Jitsu trained. Double degree in Geometry and Arthurian Literature from Cambridge. Fireman. In short a drifter.

sheep

Heres a view of Alaskan Dall Sheep habitat. Although other items can tempt them they really just prefer rocks to eat. A 7 month winter of which 3 months is dark and at times 70 F below is also fine with these guys.

Spike camp on the Chandalar River. Electric fence to keep Grizzlys out. Accessed by 12'tinny with an outboard featuring a jet unit instead of a prop. Woodstove. Gas cooker. 3 cots. Squirrels.  A variety of dehy food. Hot apple cider. Lights (Northern)

plane

Look out Dirk there's some rocks on the runway! De Havilland Beaver (Canada) 1952. Dirk came to take us out of basecamp back to the luxury of Coldfoot (pop. 15). Hot showers were welcome. Coldfoot is beside the Alaska Pipeline on the Hall Road which goes to Prudhoe Bay and is driven by "Ice Truckers".
